Ten things on the chalk board and a fryer that has been going long enough to have opinions. You queue, you order, you collect, and then — this being the Midlands and it being cold — you eat it on the way home rather than waiting until you get there.
The parcel goes down in stages: a full tray, then a bite out of it, then half a fish, then scraps, then the wrapper. What you do with the wrapper is between you and the bin, and the bins on this estate are watched more closely than you would think.
